Upgrades are set to be carried out to Poundland in Hitchin after the store was saved from closure.
A closing date had been confirmed for the store, but the decision to shut was reversed when Poundland were able to agree a lease to keep the Bancroft unit open.
Greatwave Property, a development partner acting on behalf of the unit's owners, have now told the Comet that the new lease includes a requirement for Poundland to upgrade the store and its parking area.
Work is set to commence over the summer.

A spokesperson for Greatwave said the store's owners "are extremely pleased to be able to prevent the closure of this local store and ensure that staff can retain their jobs".
Poundland moved into the former Wilko unit in Bancroft in October last year, after Wilko went into administration.
Pepco, Poundland's owner, had agreed to purchase 71 Wilko stores, including the Hitchin branch, following the collapse of the high street chain.
Poundland previously had a unit in Hitchin's High Street.
