Road closures are among the key public notices in Stevenage and North Hertfordshire that are set to affect residents.

1. Six Hills Way in Stevenage

Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an order temporarily banning traffic from Six Hills Way in Stevenage, for 270m westwards from its junction with the Gresley Way roundabout.

The closure is to enable works to be carried out, and an alternative route would be available via Gresley Way, B1037 Fairlands Way, A1155 (Fairlands Way/St Georges Way) and Six Hills Way.

The order would come into force on August 15 for a period of up to 18 months, though the road will only be closed at specific times rather than constantly.

2. Blackhorse Lane in Hitchin

Hertfordshire County Council has made an order temporarily banning traffic from Blackhorse Lane in Hitchin between its junction with London Road and with Grange Close.

The closure is to enable utility service works to be carried out, and an alternative route will be available via B656 London Road, A602 Stevenage Road and Blackhorse Lane.

The order will come into force on July 31 for a period of up to 18 months, though the road will only be closed at specific times rather than constantly.

3. Benington Road in Walkern

Hertfordshire County Council has made an order temporarily banning traffic from Benington Road in Walkern for 100m westwards from its junction with Benington Public Bridleway No. 044.

The closure is to enable utility service works to be carried out, and an alternative route will be available via Benington Road, Walkern Road, High Street, A602 (Hooks Cross/Broadhall Way), Gresley Way, B1037 Stevenage Road, High Street and Benington Road.

The order will come into force on July 30 for a period of up to 18 months, though the road will only be closed at specific times rather than constantly.

4. Pound Avenue/Primrose Hill Road in Stevenage

Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an order temporarily banning traffic from Pound Avenue/Primrose Hill Road in Stevenage, for 40m northwards from its junction with Stevenage Public Footpath No. 092.

The closure is to enable electric service connection works to be carried out, and an alternative route would be available via Pound Avenue, Letchmore Road, Haycroft Road and Primrose Hill Road.

The order would come into force on August 12 for a period of up to 18 months, though the road will only be closed at specific times rather than constantly.

5. B651 Whitwell Road in St Pauls Walden

Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an order temporarily banning traffic from B651 Whitwell Road in St Pauls Walden, for 1.4km northwards from its junction with Church Lane.

The closure is to enable the replacement of existing utility poles to be carried out, and an alternative route would be available via B651 (Whitwell Road/Hitchin Road), Codicote Road, Whitwell Road, B656 (Hitchin Road/London Road) and B651 Whitwell Road.

The order would come into force on August 9 for a period of up to 18 months, though the road will only be closed at specific times rather than constantly.
