A new restaurant opening in Stevenage is offering 1,000 free meals to celebrate.
Pan-Asian restaurant chain Banana Tree is celebrating the opening of its new venue on Stevenage Leisure Park by giving away 1,000 free katsu curries - or chicken or tofu pad Thai, if you prefer.
The restaurant, which is set to open on Friday, July 26, has taken over the Firejacks unit, which permanently closed last month.
Banana Tree is well-known for pad Thai, ramen, katsu dishes and two-for-one cocktails.
Th new restaurant features South East Asian inspired artwork, a dedicated bar area, and an ‘open kitchen’, so guests can book tables in front of the wok station and watch the chefs in action.
Tuk-tuks will be around Stevenage during the launch week, to give out free samples of Banana Tree’s award-winning dishes.
Banana Tree handpicks dishes from Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam and Malaysia to feature on its menu, from soups and salads, to wok-tossed noodles, stir fries and curries, as well as South East Asia-inspired desserts and cocktails.
Banana Tree's marketing director, Tom Patrick, said: "We’re really excited to open our new restaurant in Stevenage, and it’s our first location in a leisure park, so we know we’ll be perfect for pre or post cinema dining, or just as a great food destination.
"We also have a dedicated bar space where you can sip on our two-for-one mocktails and cocktails, pre or post dining."
Banana Tree's managing director, Kate Wilton, added: "We are thrilled to be opening our 21st restaurant in Stevenage.
"We’re looking forward to becoming a firm favourite in the area, and can’t wait to show the people of Stevenage what we have to offer."
