Road closures are among the key public notices in Stevenage and North Hertfordshire that are set to affect residents.

Here are a few notices which could impact residents in Stevenage, Letchworth and the surrounding villages in the coming months.

1. Gresley Way in Stevenage

Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an order temporarily banning traffic from Gresley Way in Stevenage, for 1.7km southwards from its junction with Magpie Crescent/Edmonds Drive roundabout.

The closure is to enable works to be carried out, and an alternative route would be available via Gresley Way, A602 (Broadhall Way/Monkswood Way), Six Hills Way and Gresley Way.

The order would come into force on August 1 for a period of up to six months, though the road will only be closed at specific times rather than constantly.

Closure times will be specified on signs on or near the road.

2. Blackhorse Lane in Hitchin

Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an order temporarily banning traffic from Blackhorse Lane in Hitchin, for 168m between its junction with B656 London Road and its junction with Grange Close.

The closure is to enable utility service works to be carried out, and an alternative route will be available via B656 London Road, A602 Stevenage Road and Blackhorse Lane.

The order will come into force on July 31 for a period of up to 18 months, though the road will only be closed at specific times rather than constantly.

3. Royston Road in Baldock

Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an order temporarily imposing a 30mph speed limit on B656 Royston Road in Baldock, for around 1.4km eastwards to its junction with B656 Boyston Bypass Interchange with Wallington Road.

The limit is to enable works to be carried out.

The order would come into force on August 1 for a period of up to 18 months, though the limit would only be imposed at specific times rather than constantly.

4. Benington Road in Walkern

Hertfordshire County Council has made an order temporarily banning traffic from Benington Road in Walkern, for 107m north westwards from its junction with Benington Public Bridleway No. 044.

The closure is to enable utility service works to be carried out.

The order would come into force on July 30 for a period of up to 18 months, though the road will only be closed at specific times rather than constantly.

Closure times would be specified on signs on or near the road.

5. Denton Road in Stevenage

Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an order temporarily banning traffic from Denton Road in Stevenage, for 156m from its junction with Whomerley Road to its junction with Rockingham Way. Waiting on both sides of the road will also be banned.

The closure is to enable works to be carried out, and an alternative route will be available via Whomerley Road, Whittington Lane and Rockingham Way.

The order would come into force on July 29 for a period of up to 18 months, though the road will only be closed at specific times rather than constantly.
