Plans to erect an 11-metre high pole outside a cottage in a North Herts village have been unveiled.

On behalf of BT, Openreach has written to North Herts Council to tell the local authority of its intention to erect an 11-metre high wooden pole outside 2 Tile Kiln Cottage in Weston.

In the letter, Openreach explains: "For the purpose of building an electronic communications network, we hereby notify you of BT’s intention to install fixed line broadband electronic communications apparatus."

It emphasises that it is not seeking planning permission.

"For the avoidance of doubt," Openreach says, "this letter does not constitute an application for a determination as to whether the prior approval of the authority will be required to siting and appearance, or an application for planning permission."

It gives the council 28 days from receipt of the letter to provide Openreach with written notice of "any reasonable conditions" it would like to be taken into consideration.
