A 16-year-old boy has been "de-arrested" after apologising for allegedly assaulting a police officer in Stevenage town centre this morning (July 9).
A police officer spotted the boy "recklessly" riding an illegal e-scooter around Queensway at 11.14am.
After refusing to hand over the scooter, an altercation took place and he was subsequently arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer.
He was later de-arrested after apologising for his actions, although has been reported for traffic offences.
The scooter, which did not have working brakes, has now been seized by police.
E-scooters are legal to purchase and use on private land, but it is against the law to drive one on public land.
