The Comet will be bringing you live results and reaction from the General Election counts taking place in our areas tonight and into the morning.

Following a long campaign, candidates in Stevenage, Hitchin and North East Herts will learn their fate in the early hours of tomorrow morning, with counts across the country taking place after the polls close at 10pm tonight.

Reporter Christopher Day will set up camp at Stevenage Arts & Leisure Centre from around 9.30pm, bringing you results and commentary as they come.

Stevenage, a bellwether seat, was previously held by Conservative's Stephen McPartland, who opted to stand down in this year's election.

Vying for votes in Stevenage are Alex Clarkson (Conservative), Kevin Bonavia (Labour), Paul Dawson (Green), Peter Hopper (Reform UK), Lisa Nash (Liberal Democrat), and Joshua Smith (Christian Peoples Alliance).

Georgia Barrow will be at the North Herts College Hitchin campus bringing you live results as they come in, pictures, video, national updates and analysis for both the Hitchin and North East Herts constituencies.

Following a boundary review, the former Hitchin & Harpenden seat - held by Conservative Bim Afolami - has now changed, with Hitchin now its own constituency.

Mr Afolami looks to retain his position in Parliament, going up against Labour's Alistair Strathern, Lib Dem's Chris Lucas, Charles Bunker for Reform UK, Will Lavin for the Green Party and Sid Cordle for the Christian Peoples Alliance.

In North East Herts, a Conservative-held seat since 1997 - the candidates are Steve Adelantado (Reform UK), Ruth Brown (Lib Dem), Vicky Burt (Green), Nikki da Costa (Conservative), and Chris Hinchliff (Labour).
