Police are warning people of long delays on the A1(M) due to a people travelling to a festival, and are advising people to avoid the area.

A spokesperson for Hertfordshire police said: "Motorists are advised that there is currently very heavy traffic on the A1(M), as people make their way to a local event.

"Drivers have reported tailbacks from junction 8 to the A505, causing long delays.

"If you can avoid the area, please do so."

The event is Groundswell at Lannock Manor Farm. It is a festival for farmers, growers, or anyone interested in food production and the environment, to learn about the theory and practical applications of regenerative farming systems.

A Weston resident said: "They're all coming into our lovely 'quiet' village. We can't get into, or out of, our village. God help us if we need police, ambulance or fire services."
