The deadline has now passed for general election candidates to declare their nomination to stand, with the official line-up for Welwyn Hatfield now confirmed.

Candidates intending to stand for election as an MP had until 4pm today hand in their papers ahead of constituents going to the polls on July 4.

Conservative candidate Bim Afolami is standing for re-election, while Labour candidate Alistair Strathern, who won a by-election in Mid-Bedfordshire last year, is standing in Hitchin following changes to the constituency boundary.

The Liberal Democrat candidate will be Chris Lucas, with Charles Bunker standing for Reform UK and William Lavin for the Green Party.

Sid Cordle will stand as the candidate for the Christian Peoples Alliance.
