A lane closure on the A1(M) northbound between junction 6 at Welwyn and junction 7 at Stevenage due to an "emergency infrastructure defect" will remain in place for the foreseeable future, National Highways has confirmed.
A road surface defect was identified on Sunday evening, and investigation works have taken place to identify the required repair works.
A spokesperson for National Highways said: "The closure will remain in place until we know next steps.
"Surveys are being reviewed today, with a plan to follow for temporary works."
A full update is expected tomorrow (June 5).
In March, the same stretch of road was closed for more than a week while works were carried out to repair "a significant defect".
The lane closure is causing delays, so avoid the area if you can.
