There are currently delays on the A1(M) northbound between junction 6 at Welwyn and junction 7 at Stevenage due to an emergency infrastructure defect, National Highways has warned.
One lane remains closed after a road surface defect was identified last night, and investigation works took place to identify the required repair works.
National Highways is currently reporting delays of 20 minutes and approximately two miles of congestion on the approach.
In March, the same stretch of road was closed for more than a week while works were carried out to repair "a significant defect".
