Water supply has been restored to homes in Stevenage, following repairs to a burst pipe.
A water main burst on Aston Lane near Stevenage Golf Course yesterday (May 20), affecting the local pumping station and leaving homes in six postcode areas without water, or with lower pressure than normal.
A large section of the pipe that was damaged was replaced, but then another burst on a section of the same pipe affected water supply in Aston Lane, Astonbury Manor, Stringers Lane and Bragbury End.
Affinity Water has now confirmed that the network has been restored.
A spokesperson said: "We’re really sorry for the problems with your water.
"We've fixed the burst and restored our network, and your water should be back to normal, although it's temporarily coming from a different source.
"We're monitoring the water supply across the area to make sure this remains stable.
"If your water is discoloured or cloudy, don’t worry, this is normal. We know it doesn’t look nice, but it’s not harmful and you can help by running your cold tap until it’s clear.
"Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.
"You may be entitled to compensation under our Guaranteed Standards Scheme. We'll write to all eligible customers and make any payments automatically."
