The volunteer-run Letchworth Festival returns next month, with organisers promising something for everyone across five weeks.
The festival's motto this year is ‘Something old, something new or never seen, something borrowed and something green’, with an array of events to fill the summer schedule.
The 'Glast-Wynd-Bury' festival takes place on June 16, and aims to be a relaxed and family friendly alternative to the Worthy Farm extravaganza from which it takes it's name.
The day will feature an eclectic mix of local artists and play facilities for children.
New for this year is Shakespeare in the Park. Taking place at Howard Park on June 8, the familiar works of the Bard will be performed in an unfamiliar setting, with the park forming an unique stage.
Hilary Kemp, chair of Letchworth Festival said: “The Letchworth Festival is very excited about staging an outdoor theatre performance in Howard Park.
"Especially because the Living Theatre specialise in performing in unusual settings and bring a love of Shakespeare mixed with knowledge of audiences’ favourite scenes.
"This is going to be a night to remember – hopefully the first of many such events in our favourite family park."
No summer would be complete without sport and this year sees two huge events, as Paris hosts the Olympics while Germany plays host to Euro 2024 and the Three Lions' attempt to finally end 58 years of footballing hurt.
The festival will bring those events closer to Letchworth, with screenings of England's group stage games in the novel setting of an art gallery.
There will also be a football cage for kids (and adults) to show the pros how its done.
For the first time, Letchworth Garden Shed will open it' doors to the festival, with free community art sessions throughout the month.
For a more leisurely experience, both Letchworth Lido and North Herts Leisure Centre will be running sessions during the festivals opening weekend, with yoga and outdoor swimming on offer.
