A police helicopter was part of a search in Hitchin last night, as officers looked to arrest a suspect involved in a shooting in Arlesey.
Two men were left with serious but non-life-threatening injuries after a firearm was discharged in Woodview Lodge in Hitchin Road on Tuesday night.
On Thursday night at around 8.45pm, a police helicopter was seen and heard flying above Hitchin town centre, with many residents questioning its presence.
The Comet can now confirm that it was part of a Bedfordshire Police search operation to locate and arrest a suspect involved in the shooting.
"The aircraft was working with Bedfordshire officers executing a warrant to arrest a suspect involved with a firearms incident on Tuesday," said a Beds police spokesperson.
The success of the operation is unclear at this time, and The Comet is working to establish if an arrest was made.
