There are currently heavy delays on the A1(M) southbound, after a van crashed into a road sign near Junction 8 for Stevenage
The incident happened at around 1.50pm today (Thursday, March 21) when a white Peugeot Boxer van left the carriageway and struck a sign and trees nearby.
The driver of the vehicle was treated at scene by an ambulance crew and his injuries aren’t believed to be serious. He was taken to hospital as a precaution.
Lane closures in place and motorists have been asked to avoid the area.

A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Constabulary said: "Were you driving in the area at the time and saw what happened, or have any further details to assist our investigation?
"Additionally, if you have a dash cam fitted and were driving on the A1 (M) near junction 8 southbound at the time, please check it, as you may have recorded some crucial footage.”
