A man has pleaded guilty to arson after a fire at a pub in Clophill back in 2022.
Ian Chalmers, 66, of Campton, pleaded guilty to a charge of arson with intent to endanger life, and will be sentenced on April 30.
The Green Man in Clophill, Bedfordshire, was severely damaged on December 21, 2022, with the building evacuated and eight people taken to hospital following the blaze.
Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service initially believed the most likely cause of the fire was a Christmas tree being placed too close to an open fireplace.
A second defendant, Tony Button, 48, from Kempston, pleaded not guilty to arson with intent to endanger life, and will stand trial on June 20.
