People in North Hertfordshire waiting for an ADHD assessment have erroneously received letters saying that their appointments were cancelled.
Cheryl, who has been waiting for an assessment since October, received a letter earlier this month confirming an appointment for April at Centenary House in Hitchin.
But in a further letter, received yesterday (Thursday, February 22), Cheryl was told that her appointment had been cancelled, leaving her "really annoyed".
The letter, from Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (HPFT), said that "HPFT are cancelling all ADHD assessments and will not be accepting any further referrals at this time".
It explained that this was due to there not being "enough capacity within the system" following "unprecedented demand for ADHD diagnosis and treatment". The patients were also sent "self-help guides".
But after this paper contacted HPFT, they confirmed that the letters had been sent in error.
A spokesperson for the Trust said: “We are very sorry that due to an error, incorrect information was included in a letter sent to a small number of adults in North Hertfordshire waiting for an assessment.

"We appreciate the concern this will have caused to the people who will have received this letter and we are correcting this as soon as possible.
"All those who were sent this letter are being contacted directly confirming the situation for them.
"To avoid any further confusion, we want to be clear that it is not correct to say that HPFT are cancelling all ADHD assessments.”
The Trust did not confirm the precise number of patients affected by the error.
