February 9 marks National Pizza Day, a true celebration of one of the world's most beloved dishes, but where is the best place in Hertfordshire to get one?
Well we've got you covered with our map of the 50 best pizza places in the county, which tells you exactly where to go for the finest slices this side of Naples.
While it’s impossible to know for sure, some claim National Pizza Day got its beginning in the 10th century in Naples, the true home of the dish, while others say it began in 2000.
Either way, we think it's a great excuse for some Friday-night pizza, so here are some of our top recommendations.
If you're in Stevenage and North Hertfordshire, you can't go wrong with Dirty Dough Pizza Co. at The Victoria in Hitchin (which happens to be this writer's favourite pizza spot).
For a more traditional Italian experience, L'Artista in Letchworth is a great option, but if you fancy supporting an up-and-coming business, then you must try Sam's Pizza in Hitchin.
For those in the Welwyn Garden City and Hatfield area, Terranova, which is nestled in Stanborough Park is a must-visit, while in Potters Bar there are plenty of great choices, including Dante and Pizza Di Napoli.
As for St Albans, Harpenden, Radlett and Hemel Hempstead, you really are spoilt for choice, but I know my colleague Pearce Bates would recommend Locanda Bagutta.
