A man in his 20s has suffered a fractured eye socket during a "targeted attack" in Stevenage.
At around 2.25pm yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, February 6) the man was approached by two males on the ramp that leads up to Stevenage Railway Station from Argyle Way.
The suspects - who were dressed in black hooded tops, grey trousers and black footwear - threw an unknown but harmless substance in their victim's face, before he was punched and kicked.
His mobile phone was also reported as stolen.
As a result of the incident - which Hertfordshire police believe to be a targeted attack - the man sustained a fractured eye socket.
He made his own way to hospital before officers arrived at the scene, and is now being supported by police.
Hertfordshire Constabulary have now appealed for witnesses to come forward.
Detective constable Darren Lomax said: "We believe this was a targeted attack and that there is no wider threat to the public.
"The victim continues to be supported by officers following this distressing incident.
