A planning application has been submitted to convert a family home in Stevenage into a house of multiple occupation (HMO).
A HMO is a shared house occupied by individuals who share basic amenities but do not form a single household.
If the application is approved, the house on Valley Way will be able to host residents in six bedrooms.
It is an end of terrace property, with a dedicated driveway and garage.

After conversion into an HMO, it would contain three bedrooms on each floor, as well as a living room, a kitchen and two bathrooms.
In the planning application, the applicant states that the property is "located in an area highly suitable for HMOs due to its proximity to key amenities and transport links".
Stevenage Borough Council made an Article Four direction in 2017, which requires all landlords seeking to turn a house into an HMO to ask for planning permission from the council.
