A man has been arrested in Letchworth after he reportedly threatened someone with an offensive weapon and was racially abusive.
Hertfordshire police were called shortly after 9.30am today (Thursday, January 18) to Morrisons in Broadway, and they found the suspect in Hillbrow.
He is 44-years-old and from Hitchin, and was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, affray, threats to kill, and a racially-aggravated public order offence.
He remains in custody at this time, and a police investigation has been launched. A police spokesperson said that "enquiries are ongoing".
