A new street food restaurant serving burger and grilled sandwiches is set to open in Hitchin.
The Shack is taking over the Sun Street unit formerly home to Deroka, but an official opening date is yet to be revealed.
Serving up burgers, chicken wings and tenders, grilled sandwiches and Sunday roasts, the business joins the burgeoning street food scene in Hitchin, which includes the likes of Chicken George, Cantina Carnitas, Cawsburger and Café 77.
The Shack already has two restaurants in Biggleswade and Barton, and they are looking forward to opening their third site.
"We’re obsessed with food that bangs, but never in a million years did we think we’d be opening our third restaurant just three years after the first, which must mean you guys love street food just as much as us," their website reads.
"So if it’s chilled vibes and next level food you’re looking for, we’re your people."
The Sun Street unit has stood empty since last August, when Deroka mysteriously closed down without warning.
Diners reported booking tables at the Mediterranean restaurant, only to find it was closed.
No official closure announcement was made, and despite The Comet's efforts to contact Deroka, no response was ever received.
