A wanted man from Stevenage has been jailed for seven counts of theft and assaulting an emergency worker.
Police issued a warrant for Steven Axton, aged 40, at the beginning of this month after he failed to appear in court over the alleged assault of an emergency worker.
This morning (December 19), Axton appeared at Hatfield Magistrates' Court and has been jailed for 20 weeks - 12 weeks for the assault and £100 compensation, seven weeks and a £200 fine for seven thefts between October and December this year, and one week for failing to appear in court.
These sentences are all due to run consecutively.
Axton has links to numerous addresses in the Shephall and Chells areas of Stevenage, along with the town centre.
