Plans have been submitted to North Herts Council for a major development of 292 homes on the outskirts of Stevenage.
The application, submitted by Stantec on behalf of Croudace Homes, would see the development built on land, known as Roundwood, off Back Lane, close to the Great Ashby area.
As well as the homes, plans also include associated roads, parking, drainage, landscaping, open space and servicing facilities works.
"The site is located within the development envelope of Great Ashby, as defined in the adopted Local Plan’s policies maps," reads a planning statement.
"The site is within walking distance of the centre of the suburb of Great Ashby, with the wider services on offer within Stevenage town centre further to the south.

"The delivery of homes on an allocated site close to the facilities and services offered in Great Ashby, Stevenage and the service provision on nearby allocation site will contribute significantly to the council’s aim of meeting its housing targets."
The development would also be made up of 40 per cent affordable housing, totalling 118 units properties.
Proposed access to the site would be be provided off Haybluff Drive from the east and Back Lane to the south, with pedestrian links to existing external routes.
"The principle of development is considered to be balanced in favour of the development and the recent adoption of the Local Plan and thus the allocation of the site for residential development of this scale ratifies the principle of development," the planning statement concludes.
The application's comments section has received five objections by members of the public so far, and two neutral.
Public comments can be made on the council's planning portal until December 22.
