The Poundland store in Stevenage town centre is preparing to move to a new site.
Signs recently appeared at the shop stating that it will close on Friday, November 24 and advising customers to check the Poundland website for details of nearby stores.
But they won't have far to travel - because the Comet understands that a new Poundland store will be opening in the unit formerly occupied by Wilko, at 49-55 Queensway.
It will open on Saturday, November 25 and all staff have kept their jobs.
The unit currently occupied by Poundland, at 77-83 Queensway, has been listed as for sale since last year. It is now under offer according to the estate agents' website.
Reef had been expected to purchase the unit to build Stevenage Enterprise Centre, as part of plans for the regeneration of the town centre, but a range of other locations within the town centre are now being considered.
