A Garden House Hospice Care charity shop in Stevenage is shutting down next month.

The store in Queensway will close its doors for the final time on November 11, with the four staff members affected by the closure all offered alternative positions within Garden House Hospice Care.

The shop opened in 2019, but has "struggled to match the success of the other hospice shops across Stevenage, North Hertfordshire and beyond", according to the charity.

"This announcement comes with a heavy heart, as we bid farewell to the Queensway shop just four years after its opening," said Carla Pilsworth, director of income generation at Garden House Hospice Care.

"Our sincerest thanks go out to our dedicated staff and volunteers for their unwavering commitment. Our commitment to the town of Stevenage remains unchanged, as we continue to operate three other stores in the area.

"Our dedication to the growth and improvement of Garden House Hospice Care's trading operations remains unchanged.

"We are resolute in ensuring that our outlets not only remain profitable but also continue to be a crucial source of support for those in the communities we serve.

"We extend our gratitude to all who have generously donated or purchased items in our shop. Your ongoing support is indispensable to us, and we eagerly anticipate your visits to one of our alternative shops in the very near future."
