A Woolmer Green couple has revealed the secret to a long and happy marriage on their 65th anniversary - doing as you're told.
Marian Woolgar, aged 84 and a resident at Care UK's Knebworth site on London Road, toasted her blue sapphire anniversary with husband, Trevor, aged 87, earlier this month.
Originally from Edmonton, the pair met at a dance in nearby Walthamstow when they were just teenagers. Following an evening dancing together, Trevor walked Marian home and the rest was history.
"The first thing Trevor said to me was that I have lovely legs and should show them off more – he’s always been a charmer," recalled Marian.
Following their wedding at All Saints Church in Edmonton, the happy couple visited Devon for a well-deserved honeymoon, where Trevor learned the secret to a long and happy marriage.

"During our honeymoon, we had our first row as husband and wife," he remembered.
"Marian threw her ring on the floor and since then I’ve learned to do as I’m told."
To celebrate the special milestone, the team at Knebworth surprised the couple with a romantic lunch, complete with a strawberries and cream cake, specially made by the home’s talented head chef.
To top the day off, Marian and Trevor continued the celebrations with a visit from their daughter, Tracy, granddaughter, Leah, and great-grandchildren, Emmie and Thomas, as four generations gathered to celebrate their enduring love story.
"Here at Knebworth, we know the importance of celebrating life’s milestones, big and small," said Vera-Moreira-Henocq, home manager at Knebworth.
"This was a big day for Marian and Trevor, and one we were honoured to be a part of. They are a wonderful couple, with lots of wisdom – and humour – about building a strong and successful marriage that I think we could all learn from.
"The atmosphere in the home was wonderful and prompted many residents to reminisce and share fond memories of their own weddings. It truly was a day to remember – happy anniversary Marian and Trevor."
