Chris Evans' CarFest: Stevenage girl fronts epilepsy charity

CarFest is an annual weekend-long family festival created by radio and TV personality Chris Evans to raise funds for UK children's charities through ticket sales.

This year, CarFest is supporting eight charities, including Young Epilepsy, which Olivia from Stevenage is representing.

Olivia was diagnosed with epilepsy two years ago. She experiences ‘absence seizures’ - momentary blackouts that can often be mistaken for daydreaming.

Young Epilepsy is a national charity that offers support to the more than 100,000 young people living with epilepsy in the UK.

Since receiving help at Young Epilepsy, and meeting other young people living with the condition at events organised by the charity, Olivia now knows she is not alone and has access to a community that can understand her and her life.

The money CarFest raises for Young Epilepsy will pay for support work, social events, online advice, training and information to help more young people like Olivia, and their families.

Olivia said: "The support I get means so, so much to me."

Chris Evans said: "CarFest has always been about helping those in need, and the fact thousands of people also get to enjoy one of the best weekends ever whilst doing so much good for so many others is a win-win."

Held over the bank holiday weekend of August 25 to 27 at Laverstoke Park Farm in Hampshire, CarFest will host seven festivals in one - AdventureFest, FoodFest, KidsFest, RetroFest, StarFest, SpaFest and, of course, CarFest!

Fan-favourites McFly are back again to headline on the Friday, with Craig David headlining on the Saturday and Texas on the Sunday.

Other musicians performing include Rick Astley, Alex Horne and the Horne Section, BoyzLife and The Village People, with DJ sets from Gok Wan and James Haskell. 

CarFest has also announced its cohort of celebrities at this year’s event, such as Anton Du Beke, Ben Miller, Jimmy Carr, Rob Brydon, Russell Brand, and plenty more, including celebrity chefs and wellness experts.

Guests can expect discussions on a wide scope of topics within the entertainment world across the festival’s many star-studded stages, as well as opportunities to have their burning questions answered.
