NORTH HERTFORDSHIRE COLLEGE
The summer holidays seem to be flying by and we are quickly approaching GCSE results day. It is natural for parents, carers, or guardians to begin feeling nervous about the big day and what it means for your young person’s next steps. Whether they’re considering sixth form, an apprenticeship, or a college course, this next stage in their education journey is one that involves gaining independence and taking a positive step forward towards adulthood.
As a parent myself, I understand the concerns you may have about the support your young person will receive in their post-GCSE studies.
At North Hertfordshire College (NHC), we are proud to work with a passionate community of staff who will inspire, challenge, and support your young person along their path to success. All our students and staff are treated as individuals with their own ideas, skills, and ambitions, each bringing something unique to our College community - this is what makes NHC a special place to study.
Alongside our classroom learning, we have a fantastic Student Services team and dedicated Additional Learning Support team who are on-hand at each of our campuses to assist learners with classroom support, accessing financial support, and securing that all-important work experience. They are also available as a friendly face for students to chat to about any worries or concerns they are facing.
Our recent investment in facilities similarly allows us to support learners in new and exciting ways. Our virtual reality technologies in our innovation and technology centre (SITEC) helps learners access fantastic work-based simulations and develop their skills from a familiar environment. Over the summer, we have refurbished part of our Stevenage campus by creating dedicated classrooms for our T Level programmes which bring the industry into our classrooms. The campus is now home to a mock hospital ward, nutrition suite, training independent living space, multiple digital suites, a health laboratory, and a dedicated employer zone. At our Hitchin Campus, our training restaurant has received a face-lift and we will be opening the new industry-standard restaurant to our Catering students (and the general public for bookings) from September!
These transformations all allow our students to begin developing their skills in real-world environments, helping them confidently move into the world of work. Whilst our curriculum develops, aligning to industry needs, we will also see further development in our facilities to ensure our students finish their studies with the necessary experience for success.
As we continue expanding our provision, investing further in emerging technologies, and undertaking our own professional development as an organisation, North Hertfordshire College also finds new ways to further support our students. We are proud of the work that our colleagues across NHC complete with learners and look forward to supporting your young person through their next stage of their education journey.
