Thameslink and Great Northern rail services are set to be affected by "digital upgrades" over the August bank holiday weekend.

The upgrades will take place on a stretch of line between Welwyn Garden City and Hitchin, in preparation for digital signalling to be used from 2025.

This digital signalling system is already in place in many European countries, according to Network Rail.
