Hitchin has been granted a sum of money by North Herts Council to guarantee a dazzling display this Christmas.
Hitchin BID has been awarded £2,000 to replace the town’s Christmas lights and improve the festive displays.
This follows recommendations from North Herts Council’s Hitchin Area Forum in July.
Tom Hardy, Hitchin BID manager, said: “We are pleased that North Herts Council have recognised the importance of our Christmas lights in the town centre.
"They play an important part in the vibrancy of the area during the festive season and this grant will go a long way to ensure the lights are enjoyed for years to come.”
The Hitchin has been a staple in the town's event calendar for many years, marking the build up to Christmas.

Cllr Ian Albert, Area Forum chair, added: "Christmas is a special time for our towns. This grant will provide a much-improved light display for Hitchin during the 2023 Christmas period and beyond.
“This, in turn, will support the retail and hospitality sector during what is one of their most important trading periods.”
The Hitchin Area Forum is one of five in the area, as Baldock, Letchworth, Southern Rural and Royston all have their own respective forums which host meetings four times a year.
