It's all change at Hobbs Court on Vardon Road in Stevenage, with residents moved out of the sheltered housing and plans for a replacement supported housing scheme.
"We understand that people are curious and asking about Hobbs Court," said a spokesperson for Stevenage Borough Council. "This building was a former sheltered housing scheme, that being of a poor quality and design has been earmarked for replacement.
"All the residents who lived here have been rehoused to other schemes across the town and the building is presently being used by officers from Stevenage Borough Council and the Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, who are conducting surveys and safety drills.

"The building is being secured and, in the near future, will be demolished. Then, subject to all necessary permissions being achieved, this will make way for a new replacement supported housing scheme for older people.

The council has previously said the regeneration of The Oval "would include new public space, shops, housing, a community centre and a church", and that it aims "to provide high quality housing, retail and community facilities".
