A man has been arrested after a member of the public was punched in the face during an "unprovoked" assault in Stevenage Old Town.
At around 11pm on Monday, June 12, officers responded to reports that someone had been punched multiple times to the face close to the Chequers pub on the High Street.
A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm and possession of a class A drug, but has since been released on bail while enquiries continue.

"We are making enquiries to establish exactly what happened in this unprovoked assault on a member of the public," said Detective Constable Richard Christian, investigating.
"I am appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information that could help progress our investigation to please contact me at richard.christian@herts.police.uk."
