Emergency services were called to an arson attack at a barn in Shillington over the weekend.
At around 8.30pm on Sunday, April 23, the fire service was called to reports of a fire at a barn in High Road.
After the fire was extinguished, officers discovered a number of stolen items from a nearby caravan that had been set alight inside the barn.
An unknown number of offenders fled the scene before emergency services arrived, but left a gate open, allowing several horses to escape.
The horses were safely recaptured and thankfully suffered no injuries.
PC Jake Creasey, investigating, said: "We are treating this incident as deliberate and are appealing to anyone who witnessed or noticed anything suspicious in the area to come forward and speak to us.
"This was a senseless act of antisocial behaviour that seriously damaged someone's property and endangered the safety of several animals.
“Any information, even something that may seem minor or insignificant, could be key to helping us progress our investigation.”
