Hitchin is set for a new Safer Neighbourhood Sergeant, as current officer Guy Westwood is due to take up a new challenge.
After more than 15 years in the role, Sergeant Westwood will be replaced by Sergeant Taranvir Gill (Taz), who has been part of policing in North Herts for eight years.
Taz will now be working out of Hitchin Police Station and managing the team of PCS and PCSOs who look after Hitchin and the rural hamlets and villages that surround the town.
Guy is joining the Prevention First Team at police headquarters in Welwyn Garden City, which focusses on preventing crime and reducing the number of potential victims.
Guy joined the SNT in Hitchin in 2007 and is well known in the area.
