Citizens Advice North Herts is calling on local people to go the extra mile to raise funds to support those at the sharp end of the cost-of-living crisis.
The charity is asking people to take part in a fundraising walk and support its work as it faces unprecedented demand for its services.
Anyone wanting to help the fundraising efforts is being encouraged to walk eight miles as part of the charity’s fundraising event on Sunday, May 14.
The walk, which will start and finish in the hamlet of Redhill (SG9 0TG) will start at 10.30 am
Demand for the charity’s services has soared. As the cost of living crisis has deepened, people are contacting them with more urgent and complex problems.
The financial outcomes the charity obtains for clients they are currently able to help are up 41 per cent year on year.
We are a local independent charity offering free confidential help and support to all our residents.
We help people solve their problems, providing advice and guidance. Tackling issues facilitates increased well-being and positive mental health in our community.
During this cost of living crisis more people than ever need our help in securing their housing and employment, looking after their families and minimising hardship.
We are aiming to raise £5,000 to help increase our capacity to enable more people in the local community to access our help.
Rosie Waters, chief officer of Citizens Advice North Herts, said: "The cost-of-living crisis is having a devastating impact and causing more and more people to find themselves needing urgent advice and support.
"It’s stressful, isolating and frightening. We’re working flat out to help people find a way forward. But we’re a charity and our services are stretched - we need your help.
"This walk is a great opportunity to come and support our work and the community - everyone is welcome to join in and go the extra mile."
