An 85-year-old grandmother who was badly hurt when she came off her electric tricycle had the three-wheeler 'taken' when she on her way to hospital.
Today (Wednesday) is Doris Hawes' birthday, but unfortunately she is spending it in Stevenage's Lister Hospital, where she has been a patient for the past three weeks. She remains "seriously unwell", her concerned grandson, James Gotman, said.
Doris came off the tricycle she was riding in Gates Way, Stevenage, on February 28, on her way to do some shopping.

"We’re not sure if she was hit by a car," James explained. "She just woke up off the bike and has serious injuries.
"While being taken to hospital, and before someone was able to collect her bike, it was taken from the side of the road."
James is hoping to make his grandmother's birthday a little brighter, by having her tricycle returned to her.
He has been appealing on social media for help locating it, with people wishing Doris a speedy recovery and promising to look out for her tricycle.
"It's a very distinctive bike - green, electric and a three-wheeler," James said. "It's the only one in Stevenage. She's known as the little old lady on her three-wheeler, always around Aldi etcetera.
"She is hoping to get the electric bike returned to her, as this gave her independence in being able to get out.
"I'm just asking, to see if anyone has seen it around town or has happened to keep it safe at home."

James continued: "This is her main way of keeping active and mobilised.
"I’m trying to make her birthday a bit better by hopefully finding out some more information.
"I’m not sure she will have the confidence to get back to riding, but I would like to see the bike return home."
Have you seen the bike, or do you know where it is? Perhaps you have taken it for safe-keeping and need to know how to get it returned to its rightful owner. Call James on 07779 799570 with any information.
