Following a site visit to the Willow Lane/Charlton Road crossroad in Hitchin by MP Bim Afolami, Herts County Council has committed to make pedestrian safety improvements.
The Hitchin MP has been seeking improvements to protect pedestrians since a public meeting he held in the village of Charlton last year.
Residents and council officers joined the MP on Friday, March 10, to discuss potential solutions and areas of particular concern.

The county council has now committed to take action, including measures to keep the pavement clear and investigating further traffic calming measures and other ways to keep pedestrians safe.
Bim Afolami MP said: "Residents have shared with me their concerns over safety for pedestrians and road users on Willow Lane/Charlton Road.
"It is clear to me that action needs to be taken here to protect local people – and I am very pleased that county council officers have agreed with that assessment and will now progress an initial plan to improve safety.
"I will be closely following their progress in delivering this.
"Making Hitchin and the villages an even safer place to live, work and spend time is a key priority and I will continue to work with communities to identify ways in which we can do that."
