Hitchin-based playwright Laura Mead will see her latest play performed at the Vault Festival in Waterloo this month.
Vanilla, described as a "fresh and awkwardly funny" look at an isolated relationship, tells the story of Dan and Katie, a couple in their 20s who have survived the pandemic and are looking to get their sexual mojo back.
The play is directed by Keith Swainston, with Laura herself playing Katie and Ned Wakeley as Dan, and is currently being adapted for a potential screenplay.
Laura said: "I think writing about sex is always a bit tricky. Especially as a woman and especially after the pandemic.
"But you also get this big old buzz about being able to communicate sexual desire to a diverse audience.
"You hope you’ll connect with somebody out there experiencing the same feelings. The same confusion. And that’s what it’s all about."
