The member of Parliament for Stevenage has announced that he will not be standing for re-election.
Stephen McPartland MP posted a message on social media last night (Monday, February 13) detailing a letter that he had sent to the Prime Minister.

In the social media post, McPartland thanked the Conservative Party for giving "a working class kid from Brixton the opportunity to become Prime Minister".

In his letter to the Prime Minister, Stephen McPartland MP continued: "It has been the biggest honour of my life to serve as the member of Parliament for Stevenage since 2010, but after much soul-searching, I have decided not to seek reselection in order to take up new opportunities outside of politics...
