Hitchin Rugby Club can afford to keep the lights on thanks to a new sponsorship deal with Pinehill Hospital.
With the cost of living crisis hitting the Old Hale Way-based club hard, stopping midweek training under the floodlights to save money had been considered.
But, the support from the Hitchin private hospital means the club can continue sessions for all levels, much to the delight of Duncan Barton, hospital director at Pinehill.

"We are delighted to sponsor Hitchin Rugby Club and the players and local community that will in turn benefit from this," he said.
"Supporting our local community for both healthcare and wellbeing requirements is of absolute importance to us, as recognised in our company’s ethos of people caring for people."
