Bim Afolami, the MP for Hitchin and Harpenden, earned nearly £10,000 for appearances on TalkTV between July and November last year.
According to the House of Commons’ latest register of members’ interests, Bim Afolami earned £9,725 for 23 hours work in total – equivalent to an hourly rate of £422.82.
Afolami appeared as a panellist on shows including the News Desk and First Edition. One of his appearances, in July, was notable for featuring his live resignation as vice chair of the Conservative party.
TalkTV was launched in April 2022 by the Rupert Murdoch-owned News Corp 2022, with Piers Morgan Uncensored as its flagship show.
However, it has suffered weak viewing figures, with fewer people tuning into it than any comparable channel - in September, it had 2.1 million viewers. During the same month, GB News and Sky News reached 3.3 million and 12.6 million viewers respectively.
Mr Afolami has been contacted for comment on this article.
