A number of people were evacuated and taken to hospital after a fire at a pub in Clophill last night.
Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue were called to the blaze at The Green Man pub at around 10.42pm, with eight people evacuated and everyone accounted for
Seven of those were taken to hospital, while the building suffered extensive damage.
“On December 21, at around 10.42pm, Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue were called to a fire at The Green Man pub in Clophill,” said a spokeswoman.
“The fire was on the ground floor and 50 per cent of the building was damaged by the fire with the remaining 50 per cent damaged by heat and smoke.
“Eight persons were evacuated, seven of those were taken to hospital, all persons were accounted for.
“An investigation into the cause of the fire will be taking place.”
Bedfordshire Police also attended the scene, but did not wish to comment on the incident when asked by the Comet.
