A secondary school in Baldock has taken part in the Queen's Green Canopy tree planting initiative.
Students at Knights Templar School were selected by the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme to plant a silver birch tree in commemoration of the life and service of Queen Elizabeth II.
The Queen's Green Canopy scheme launched around her Platinum Jubilee in 2022 with the aim of increasing the number of native trees in the UK.
Students at Knights Templar have been volunteering in local environment projects as part of their Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh Awards.
Since 2020, students have worked alongside members of the Rotary Club of Baldock to plant a new area of woodland in Ivel Springs in Baldock, as well as participating in litter picks and citizen science projects.
A group of year 10 and year 12 students took part in the tree planting ceremony, which took place during National Tree Week. They were joined by members of the Rotary Club of Baldock, including President Thom Odd.
The silver birch tree has pride of place outside the sixth form common room.
