Two friendship clubs are set to relaunch after COVID forced them to close in 2020.

Letchworth's Kingfisher Clubs are seeking members and volunteers. The newly reopened clubs provide a weekly get-together for people who are lonely or have low to moderate dementia.

Helen Cairns, supported housing manager at First Garden Cities Homes - which runs the clubs - said: “We are absolutely delighted to be able to reopen our two weekly Kingfisher Clubs.

“Members always have a lot of fun together. They can take part in a range of stimulating activities, from arts, crafts and music to more energetic pursuits like Clock Cricket and chair exercises.

“But it’s not just the members who benefit. Carers also tell us they welcome the opportunity to take a break from their responsibilities, knowing that their loved one is safe and having a great time in a positive environment.”

The clubs are held on Mondays at Kingfisher Court, and on Thursdays at Macfadyen Webb House.

Sessions run from 10am to 3pm and include snacks, hot drinks and a two-course meal. Thanks to a subsidy from North Herts District Council, each session costs just £18.
