A consultation has opened for members of the public to have their say on the redevelopment of The Oval.
Residents can tell the council how they use The Oval, and how they would like to see it improved.
The consultation states that the regeneration “would include new public space, shops, housing, a community centre, and a church”, and that it aims “to provide high quality housing, retail and community facilities".
Members of the public can submit their responses until November 9.
According to the consultation, “The Oval was highlighted in the council’s Local Plan as an opportunity to make much-needed improvements to the local area".
The council has stated that it has directly been in touch with over 3,000 properties in and around The Oval already and is keen for residents “to get involved from the outset".
Plans have not yet been drawn up, and there will be multiple rounds of public consultation to fine-tune the redevelopment proposal before it is submitted for planning permission.
An architect and “regeneration specialists” have already been appointed, and it is expected that planning permission will be sought in 2023.
Residents can submit their responses at http://ow.ly/JSSK50Lf5pu.
