Hundreds of plants from the RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival have been gifted to the Sue Ryder Neurological Care Centre Stagenhoe.
The plants were from one particular show garden – Katherine Holland’s ‘A Journey.’
Following her huge success at the flower show, Katherine visited Stagenhoe and worked with volunteers and residents to plant a staggering number of the original show garden plants in the St Paul's Walden-based centre grounds.
Stagenhoe provides specialist care for people with a range of neurological conditions such as Huntington’s Disease, Parkinson’s and Multiple Sclerosis.
Katherine approached Sue Ryder as a collaborative partner, as the ethos of her show garden went hand in hand with the message behind the bereavement support the charity offers.
She said: "I was driven to create this garden by a desire to shine a light on the complex emotions we experience when grieving and the non-linear nature of grief. I also wanted to raise awareness of the help and resources available from a charity like Sue Ryder to those who are grieving, or those who are supporting someone who is grieving."
Regional neurological director at Stagenhoe, Sally Davies, said: "The new flower beds, created so beautifully by Katherine, are such a positive addition and will provide colour and enjoyment all year round."
