All the fun of the fair returns to Stevenage’s High Street on Monday and Tuesday.
The road will be shut for the duration of the annual charter fair, which this year takes place between 2.45pm and midnight on both days.
Hitchin Road and Lytton Way will also be closed at the same times, while Drapers Way will be shut from 6am tomorrow until 6am on Wednesday. There is also limited spaces at one of the car parks in Primett Road.
The event has been held every year since King Edward I granted a charter in 1281, giving Stevenage the right to hold a weekly market and yearly fair for all time.
Councillor Howard Burrell, responsible for culture, leisure and sport at Stevenage Borough Council, said: “This is one of the big social highlights for Stevenage and I will be joining the thousands of visitors enjoying the delights at the charter fair. From traditional fairground stalls and rides, to candy floss and prizes, there is fun for all at the fair in the High Street.”
