Cheerleaders from a Stevenage school are heading to Wimbledon tomorrow to perform in the regional heat of a national dance competition.
Ashtree Allstars senior team from Ashtree Primary School and Nursery in Chertsey Rise will be competing against 35 other schools for a place in the Great Big Dance Off 2019.
The cheerleading club was set up by teaching assistant Tracie Swallow, who coaches the team alongside Natalie Foley.
“We are thrilled to have made it to the regional heats and are so very proud of our dancers who have worked incredibly hard on our competition routine,” they said.
“The club has given so many of our less confident pupils the confidence to perform on many occasions and has created some amazing teamwork between our older and younger pupils.”
Headteacher Elizabeth Kirwan added: “We are all so proud of our Allstars and the dedication of the staff running this club. I am looking forward to cheering the team on.”
