A 38-year-old man was arrested in Stevenage yesterday following an altercation between two people, which resulted in one of them allegedly being threatened with an axe.
Police were called just before 7.45pm yesterday to the incident in Stevenage town centre.
Officers attended the scene and spoke to both parties involved. They then conducted through searches in the vicinity and recovered the weapon, which was found in a bin in the library car park off Southgate.
No one was injured as a result of the incident.
The man – who is from the town – was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
